DEER HEAD TAXIDERMY CLASS
Day 1 - Instruct on how to skin a large game head (deer). Lecture on how to measure hide for manikin. How to split the lips, nose and turn ears. Demonstrate fleshing with mini flesher and commercial fleshing machine. 

Day 2 - Instruct proper tanning methods. Pickling hide tanning. Instructor will lead a demonstration on pressure hide tanning, washing of the hide and sewing holes in the hide. 

Day 3 - Preparing the manikin for mounting. Setting of the eyes. Setting of the ears (forward or backward). Instructing the symmetry of the Manikin. Instruct on how to do a Horn Mount.

Day 4 - Mounting of the game head. Sliding cape on manikin. Attaching antlers to form. Setting ears in clay. Making the sew incision. Align skin on manikin. Stapling hide on back of form. 

Day 5 - Continuing mounting game head. Instructor will conduct demonstrations on the proper position of eye skin, pinning hide to manikin in muscle areas, grooming game head and gelling hair on game head. 

Day 6 -  Instruct complete finishing of deer mount. Finish eyes, nose, ears, lips, and grooming of hair. Instruct air brushing that is needed to complete the mount. Critique deer mount and fill out Evaluation sheets.
